Vent

I am just really frustrated with the wedding planning and its only been a few weeks.

1. My mom gets "wedding-ed" out frequently- She'll go with me to see someplace, then not want to talk about it when we get back.

2. These places are just nickle and diming people with every single fee making it seem like its going to be close to impossible to get married anywhere around here. I am sick of visiting places and finding out all these ridiculous fees like:
- air conditioning fee
- maintence fee
- set up fee per person regardless if the caterers will do it for free
- parking per car
- lifeguard fee for the pond..etc

Why don't they just include it in the hall rental? Why does it all have to be mandatory "extras"?

3. I want to do this on a budget and everywhere just seems like too much money.

My mom has set a strict amount of money she wants to give us, but then wants to invite 40 people to the wedding?
She doesn't understand that with the catering and hosted bar, those 40 people would cost us over $1500 --- All for people I don't know. Thats also about a 1/2 of what she wants to give us.

I'm more inclined to cut off most of her people and just invite my friends and family..

I kind of want to ask her to pay for her friends...

4. Since we are on a budget, its really embarrassing that my tries to haggle with these people. Its a wedding site, if they are charging $5 Million dollars, thats what they are charging. I'm sure they aren't going to go down a lot just because we tell them that we can't afford it and that this other place charges less than them? I'm sure they wont care... and they don't.

If anything, they might bend a rule like the 100 person minimum or something, but not on the price really. I'm a little annoyed that we drove 40 minutes today to see a wedding sight that said they have all inclusive wedding packages that would fit into our budget.

Well we get there and find out that its just the catering bill that would fit into our budget. The site fee was not included. It should have been at least mentioned when I was on the phone.

Plus the catering options weren't all that impressive. Bring your own alcohol, 1 entree choice, 1 side dish, 1 salad - plus bread. Thats it... all for 2x what the normal caterer is charging for that same menu.
